NATURE'S DANCE

NATURE'S DANCE (2004) Ken Dunn

18 x 18 in. Mixed media on canvas. Private Collection, Canada.

The interplay between opposing forces; male and female, dark and light, life and death. The never ending dance of nature.

I have a special fondness for this painting, one of my first sales since returning to painting after many years of inactivity.

Utilizing waste materials from the studio, including soiled shop towels and dried paints, several acrylic glazes brought the painting to vibrant life.

MUJERE EN LA PLAYA

MUJERE EN LA PLAYA (2006) Ken Dunn

12 x 16 in. Acrylic on canvas. Private collection, Canada.

From the "Playa, Bosque, y Finca" series, another Costa Rica inspired piece.

A woman's neck and shoulders, with Pacific Ocean sunset in the background.

THIRD EYE

THIRD EYE (2005) Ken Dunn

8 x 10 in. Mixed media on wood panel. Private collection, Canada.

This piece from "The Golden Age" series is a good example of the collage and mixed media work completed in late 2005 and early 2006.

Up to 20 layers of canvas, acrylic, burlap, mesh, and other materials were then finished with a thick, self-levelling gel glaze.

PACIFICA

PACIFICA (2005) Ken Dunn

Acrylic on canvas, 30 x 30 in. Private collection, Canada

Like many of my paintings, Pacifica was inspired by the deep blue, azure Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Costa Rica.

The sleepy little village of Nosara is depicted in irridescent colour, adding life and movement.
